An unnamed "insider" has told Radar Online that 20th Century Fox is not very comfortable with the idea of X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer, who is facing a $75,000 lawsuit claiming he sexually abused a minor, returning to direct the follow-up, X-Men: Apocalypse.

The source said Singer's attorneys are furious because a deal for him to direct the film, an adaptation of the "Age of Apocalypse" storyline from the X-Men comics, was inked months ago.

Producer Laura Shuler Donner made the news official Tuesday at the London premiere of X-Men: Days of Future Past with the announcement of a new Gambit spinoff in which actor Channing Tatum will star. It's likely to hit theaters in the summer of 2018.

X-Men: Days of Future Past isn't even in theaters yet, but details regarding the next movie in the franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse, are already making their way out into reports.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer revealed that the movie, as one might assume, will at least partially be based on the "Age of Apocalypse" storyline from the mid-1990s, though " won’t necessarily create an alternate universe."
