Marvel released almost all of its cosplay variant covers for the coming months a few weeks back, but there were two omissions that we're unveiling exclusively today. The first is Eddie Newsome's Captain America cosplay for the cover of Sam Wilson, Captain America #1, by Nick Spencer and Daniel Acuña. The second is for a new title that was only announced last week; Hurley Fx brings the Monarch of Planet X to life for the cover of Rocket Raccoon & Groot #1, by Skottie Young and Filipe Andrade.

Rocket Raccoon & Groot Cosplay Variant by Hurley Fx

Rocket Racoon & Groot was announced by Marvel on Thursday, and launches this December, reuniting one of Marvel's most popular double acts. Rocket and Groot have both starred in their own solo books in recent months --- Groot by Jeff Loveness, Declan Shalvey and Brian Kesinger, and Rocket Raccoon by Skottie Young. The characters first formed a partnership in the comics as members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and their buddy bromance became an integral part of last year's hit Guardians of the Galaxy movie, propelling both characters to greater fame.

Young wrote and drew most issues of his Rocket Raccoon series, and he'll stay on as writer of the new series, with Andrade on art and Jean-Francois Beaulieu on colors.

Editor Jake Thomas described the first arc of the new series to as a cross between Memento and Prison Break: "Rocket Raccoon is a Big Bad Crime Lord, who is running a crime empire but has no memory of who he is or where he came from ... Groot will have a bunch of crazy symbols carved into his bark like tattoos that are clues to who Rocket is and what happened to him to turn him into this."
