Even though it hasn't been too long since Hal Jordan suited up to police the cosmos in the direct-to-disc "Green Lantern: First Flight," the word on the street (and by "street" I mean ComicsContinuum) is that GL is scheduled to receive yet another animated feature.

It's unknown whether the film will be a sequel to "First Flight," (pictured above) but supposedly the idea is to time the feature to coincide with the live-action "Green Lantern" film starring Ryan Reynolds in 2011.

I'm not sure how much sense it would make to start from scratch on a GL animated franchise given "First Flight's" relative freshness, but I'm also not expecting an anthology-style release in the vein of "Batman: Gotham Knight" given GL's comparatively lower brand awareness.

There's also the matter of Geoff Johns stating that there's "A very, very good chance," of a GL animated series last weekend at Emerald City ComiCon. ComicsContinuum says the new project appears to be something different, however.

One way or another, expect to see plenty of the GL Corps next year.

Hopefully the new animated GL is half as awesome as John Stewart was on the Justice League animated series...
