Katee Sackhoff Teases Secret Marvel Film Role – UPDATE: Nevermind She Tricked Us

Rumors have been flying since last fall that Battlestar Galactica and Longmire star Katee Sackhoff would be taking on the mantle of a Marvel Comics superheroine in a movie role soon, with Captain Marvel being the obvious — and fan-endorsed — choice.

Now, Sackhoff has all but confirmed that she’s working with Marvel on…something, though her cryptic Tweets have raised some questions about just who she’ll be portraying. See if you can decipher her clues below.

And then the clues continued:

This one would seemingly confirm that Captain Marvel is Sackhoff’s character of choice. The shape of the cast being made for her head looks similar in shape to the Jamie McKelvie-designed helmet/mask Carol Danvers wears when she flies up into space.

This one all but confirms Captain Marvel. This is almost exactly what the shoulder area of the current costume looks like, sans some gold piping.

And then this one kind of throws things for a loop. Not to say that Carol Danvers couldn’t wear a veil for some reason. Maybe she’s mourning the death of the Mar-Vell?

A further clue: According to Badass Digest, there’s a character called “Ms. Marvel” who makes a cameo in Avengers: The Age of Ultron. That movie is shooting right now. Make of that what you will.

So what do you think? Is Sackhoff playing Carol Danvers, or are people reading the tea leaves too closely here?

UPDATE: Sackhoff has now thrown a big wrench in the gears with this tweet:

So who even knows.
