Marvel’s TV universe has plenty of balls to juggle for the moment, between Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., its spinoff and side-project, as well as the Netflix Defenders, and it seems we may have another name in the mix. Ryan Phillippe has reportedly entered talks for a role in one of the new Netflix series, but might he be our Iron Fist?

Phillippe himself reportedly confirmed the talks in a morning interview with Howard Stern, though naturally, no details of the character were revealed. Most of the speculation has pointed toward the role of Danny Rand/Iron Fist, the only as-yet-uncast member of Netflix’s Defenders, though we might imagine Marvel might look to cast a bit younger than the 40-year old Phillippe, particularly for such a physical role.

Also worth noting is that Phillippe maintains a relationship with ABC Studios for his current role on the network’s Secrets and Lies remake, which itself remains uncertain on renewal or cancellation. Meanwhile, production on AKA Jessica Jones has gotten well underway, while Mike Colter and Cheo Hodari Coker will follow with Luke Cage, and Daredevil laid plenty of Iron Fist Easter eggs before its own Season 2 renewal.

We’ll keep an ear (or fist) to the ground to see what shakes out about Ryan Phillippe’s reported talks, but who from the Marvel Netflix series might the Cruel Intentions star prove best suited for?
