Anchor-tattooed forearms are flailing behind fists of fury on the cover of Popeye #2. Out this Wednesday from IDW, the second issue of Roger Langridge and Ken Wheaton's new Popeye series will pit the spinach-guzzling sailor man against famous actor Willy Wormwood. Sadly, Popeye's mighty mitts are of little use in a contest for Olive Oyl's heart, meaning the cantankerous sailor must rely on his wits if he's to come out the top suitor. Popeye fan comic artist extraordinaire Tom Neely also makes his canonical debut on the series in this issue, with a special backup story starring none other than the bearded genius known as O.G. Wotasnozzle. Tony Millionaire fans can also pick up a special variant cover by the artist featuring Popeye taking to the seas with Sea Hag and Alice the Goon in hot pursuit. IDW has provided ComicsAlliance with an exclusive first look at seven pages from Popeye #2, which you can peruse after the jump. From IDW's official solicitation info:

Olive Oyl has got a new beau... and it's Willy Wormwood, vaudevillian villain! Popeye can take a licking from the biggest brutes imaginable, but can he recover from a broken heart? Plus: a brand- new escapade featuring Professor Wotasnozzle and Sappo!
