The Power Rangers are morphing back to television, as Deadline reports that the Saban Capital Group has reacquired the property from its most recent owner, the Walt Disney Company, and is planning an eighteenth season of Power Rangers goodness for Nickelodeon.

I can't tell you how many times ComicsAlliance assistant editor Caleb Goellner and I have geeked out over a glorious Power Rangers comeback - alright, it was only one conversation on a very adult beverage-enhanced evening, but it was easily worth a thousand awesome conversations - so it's very safe to say that the seven-year-old (and the 25-year-old) in me is quite happy with this news. That said, a return of the Power Rangers doesn't necessitate a return to the glory days of Tommy, Billy, Jason, Kimberly, Zack and Trini, may she rest in peace. But there's definitely potential here. I mean, think about how great an ongoing "Power Rangers" comic book series could be. Sure, without Disney, you can kiss your hopes for a "Green Ranger / Iron Fist" team-up book goodbye, but Nickelodeon owns the rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - isn't the possibility of a comic book crossover between the Rangers and TMNT, or even some form of televised special, a truly wonderful thing to consider?

You tell us - are you psyched to about Haim Saban's reacquisition, or does the news make you want to throw your hands up like Alpha and shout "Ay-yai-yai-yai-yai!" throughout the Power Center's spacious chamber? Let us know in the comments section!
