‘Rapture #2′ Preview and Guest Blog by Michael Oeming & Taki Soma
ComicsAlliance welcomes creators Michael Oeming (“Powers”) and Taki Soma for a guest blog and an exclusive preview from issue #2 of their new Dark Horse Comics miniseries, “Rapture”:
Granted, we have a biased opinion on the matter, but we truly put a lot of sweat and blood into it, and I think it shows when you read it. So far, we had a very fulfilling but very difficult courtship since 2007, which involved a long-distance relationship, finalizing a divorce, marriage, moves across the country (yes, plural) and a very tragic death in the family, but we have survived them all and are conquering more. Now we’re sharing it with you through our stories, and “Rapture” is no exception. The overall synopsis: a superhero lovestory. A girl and boy are in love, they break up, and the world literally ends — but that’s just the core of it. We really poured every inch of heartache and despair, happiness and bliss into it that we learned from our lives together as husband and wife. We’d work on the floor or on the plane or out with our friends to make sure that even in the midst of all that’s going on, we could keep our sanity by living through the world of “Rapture.”
“Rapture” is also a very unique comic, as we are sharing writing and art assignments. We both write, and Taki will do a loose art layout, then Michael will pencil and ink. We also share the cover art — odd numbers for Michael and even for Taki. We even asked some of our favorite artists to do alternate covers for us as well: Alex Maleev, David Mack, Mike Allred, Matt Wagner, Eric Powell and Brian Michael Bendis! Really, what else can you ask for?
Ok, you can ask for more… How about colors by Val Staples and letters by Thomas Mauer? Still more? How about Dave Land as the editor and DARK HORSE as the publisher? You may ask no more, we’re spent.
Please support our beloved title “Rapture,” as we really believe in our product. Any questions can be directed to email@example.com, and there is currently a contest going on in our Myspace blog.
Thank you, and we’ll see you in the pages of “Rapture.”
