It's the week of Valentine's Day, the thaw of spring is approaching, and our thoughts have turned to love and sex. All this week on ComicsAlliance we're celebrating the best of romance and erotica in comics.

With Should I Be Reading… ?, ComicsAlliance hopes to offer you a guide to some of the best original ongoing comics being published today.

What would you do to achieve your dreams? For the Rock Cocks, the answer is anything --- so long as they’re together.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Steg and Suria have been trying to make a go of it in the big city, working mundane jobs and playing any gig they can get for their band, the Rock Cocks. When Suria gets fired and they're evicted from their apartment, they decide to fully commit to their dream of becoming musicians by living in their van to reduce expenses, performing anywhere they can, and doing whatever it takes to make it big.

They enter a battle of the bands, performing basically in their underwear (it’s hard to do laundry when you’re homeless), and get approached by a label interested in signing them. Their performance was so electric and sexual that the audience essentially dissolved into an orgy. And like they say, sex sells.

The comic follows the pair as they get signed, record their first album, and slowly ascend into rockstardom.

They also bang a lot.

WHO’S IT BY?

The Rock Cocks is written by Brad Brown and drawn by Leslie Brown. They are a married couple who have been creating webcomics together since 2011 when they started Blaster Nation, a slice-of-life comic that ended in 2016. Blaster Nation was successful enough that they were able to quit their jobs and make comics full time.

WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL?

This is a sexy comic, folks. Steg and Suria are lovers, and the comic shows them having sex anywhere and everywhere: on their balcony, in their van, backstage, by the pool, in the desert… There’s so much joy and love in what they’re doing; Suria’s facial expressions make it clear that sex is the most fun thing ever. Leslie Brown gets quite graphic with her art, using tons of close-ups on genitals and penetration. Things get very wet and messy.

It’s like the best porn. Steg and Suria (and everyone else, including lots of same sex couples and threesomes) have sex constantly, but there is still some story in between the sex scenes.

It’s not the most original plot --- poor small town folk making it big --- but The Rock Cocks has enough sentiment to keep you reading. It’s all about sexy, sweet characters chasing dreams and getting down. Steg is a big bear of a man who masturbates to relax himself before a big gig, while Suria is turned on by freedom and success. You want them to triumph. You want them to have all the orgasms they can handle.

WHO SHOULD READ IT?

This one is definitely not for kids, unless you want to start a conversation about healthy sexuality. It’s also not something you can read at work. (They do handily note which pages are not safe for work.)

Read it if you ever dreamed of drugs, sex, and rock and roll. Read it with a partner before reenacting some scenes yourselves.

WHERE CAN I READ IT?

You can read The Rock Cocks online on its website. It updates Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Plenty of bonus material is available on the Browns’ Patreon.
