We are still about a year and a half away from the release of Thor: Ragnarok, but the rumors just keep pouring in. In addition to last week’s report on Cate Blanchett’s potential villainous role, another report has surfaced, this time suggesting how Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk may enter the picture, and it sounds just wild enough to be true.

Like other recent rumors, this one originates at Geek.com, and although they have yet to prove the validity of their sources (time will tell), the writers over there are pretty trustworthy. So far, we know that Hulk will be teaming up with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor for what Ruffalo has described as a “road movie.” But how exactly does Hulk get involved? Last we saw the big green guy, he took off in the Avengers’ Quinjet for destinations unknown.

The new report suggests that after Blanchett’s Hela destroys Thor’s hammer, she exiles the mighty hero to the outer reaches of space, where he lands on an unfamiliar planet and finds himself imprisoned — and forced to fight to the death, gladiator-style. His opponent just happens to be the Hulk, who has not transformed back into Bruce Banner since the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Ruffalo himself has suggested that we’ll see Hulk / Banner sharing screentime as the two confront one another and the hero consolidates his conflicting personalities. It’s unclear just how reliable this latest rumor is, but it definitely sounds interesting at the very least.

Taika Waititi is directing Thor: Ragnarok from a screenplay by Stephany Folsom. The film hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
