Renee Montoya Keeps the Animated Rogues in Check, and Other DC Collectibles Sneak Peeks

DC Collectibles
DC Collectibles

For more than a year now, DC Collectibles has been making Batman: The Animated Series fans' dreams come true with an action figure line that captures everything we loved about the legendary cartoon. While the process of putting these figures out hasn't been 100% smooth all the way through, DC Collectibles' efforts have given us one of the deepest and most screen accurate action figure lines in the company's history. However, there have been a few characters fans have been looking for that haven't made the leap just yet. This August, it looks like that all changes when Renee Montoya, Bane, Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy get their own box set.

DC Collectibles’ Lee Bermejo Signature Series Batman and Superman Are Noel Joke [Review]

The DC Collectibles Designer Series has been home figures based on the art of some of the publishing arm's biggest stars like Darwyn Cooke, Amanda Conner and Greg Capullo. There have been a number of statues that have featured the stylings of those artists, and many more, but only a select few have been given the privilege of having their own individual action figure lines. Lee Bermejo is the latest to join such rarefied air with a Batman and Superman delivered in his gritty style. It's almost a shame the rest of the line was already canceled.

The DC Bombshells may have started as nothing more than a fun twist on nostalgia and the DC Universe, but over the past five years the line has evolved into something much larger. Since the first Bombshells statue arrived, the fan following has continued to grow exponentially, and DC Comics and DC Collectibles have expanded the reach and realm quite a bit. Now the Bombshells aren't just collectibles --- though there are still plenty of those --- they're also the stars of an acclaimed comic series.

This week, DC Comics and DC Collectibles will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Bombshells with the release of The Art of DC Comics Bombshells, a hardcover collection of process art for the statues, variant covers, and comic. And following next month, DC Collectibles will release Bumblebee as the 19th statue in the Bombshells series. We got an advanced look at both, and fans of the Bombshells line won't be disappointed in either.

DC Icons Figures Bring Out the Best in DC Comics History [Review]

DC Collectibles DC Icons

The DC Icons series has been an interesting experiment from DC Collectibles. Following the lengthy run of New 52 figures, shaking things up by putting out characters from the vast DC Comics catalog from all different eras has proven to be quite an exercise. Though the figures in the Icons line are just out of scale with most of its contemporaries, that doesn't diminish the quality of the figures... even if it does make them look just out of place on display with other toys.

We got a look at the latest additions --- John Stewart, the Joker, and Firestorm --- just in time for their release this month. All three candidates are strong additions, and give us versions of these characters that have been sorely lacking representation on the toy front.
