TV resurrections certainly hit a boiling point over the last few days, between last night’s dumpster-diving Walking Dead, or this morning’s surprise Game of Thrones revelation, a proximity not lost on the former’s creative minds. The Walking Dead took a playful shot at Game of Thrones for torturing fans, but is the pot calling the kettle (or perhaps just taking the) black?
Game of Thrones
With October just around the bend, that means it's time for cooler weather, cooler costumes and the biggest comic book convention on the east coast. Yes, New York Comic Con is bearing down on us faster than we're prepared to deal with it, but that's okay. We'll make do. In addition to incredible amount of stuff happening at the show, there will be a lot of great stuff up for grabs.
As busy as Funko was at San Diego Comic-Con, its plate looks to be equally as filled at NYCC this coming year. This week, Funko is unveiling all of its planned exclusive items, with a new batch coming every single day. While the availability of each is likely to be a bit more open than it was at SDCC, these things will still be limited. If you're hoping to get any, definitely plan ahead and around any and all panels you hope to make it to this year.
The Game of Thrones season finale delivered another dagger between the ribs to fans of the HBO mega-hit series based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels. To mark the occasion, we've collected together what we think is some of the best Jon Snow fan art ever.

I am so tired of writing about rape.
If you didn't catch the news, last Friday, the website Comic Book Resources posted a five-page preview of the latest issue of the Game of Thrones comic book adaptation. And the pages they published — the pages Dynamite Entertainment sent out as representative of the book, which is a standard practice for comic book publishers — included an incredibly graphic rape scene. Erect penis, front and center. Woman bent back nearly double, naked, arched like a porn star.
It just so happens that was also the week that HBO decided to add—and then vigorously defend — a graphic rape scene in the Game of Thrones TV series (a trend the network continued this week), and that both fall in the middle of Sexual Assault Awareness month — and yes, thanks, HBO, Dynamite and CBR, we are in fact extra aware of sexual assault now, so, well done, there. It's worth noting, too, that this is coming on the heels of an incident where a fellow comics editor and journalist got a slew of graphic rape threats for having the temerity to critique the portrayal of a teen girl in a piece of cover art (also published on CBR).
But it's also not just this week, or this month. It's this year. This decade. This lifetime. This is business as usual.
If there's one thing I know about people on the Internet, it's that there's nothing they love more than when a piece of art combines one pop culture thing with another pop culture thing. It's up there with adorable pictures of two different kinds of animals being friends on the list of things that people just cannot get enough of.
Okay, I kid, but I'll be honest: I love a good pop-culture mashup more than anyone, and I've rarely seen them done better than when I checked out Yehudi Mercado, a writer, director and artist whose work is often the perfect blend of two of our favorite things. Whether it's the Muppets and Game of Thrones or a line of action figures based on Community that I desperately want, they're all pretty awesome. Check out some highlights below!

The various houses of Westeros and Essos tend to group certain kinds of personalities, giving them narrative power by serving as something of a mirror to the reader's own moods and experiences. Some days you're feeling the fury of House Baratheon, others you're repaying your debts as diligently as the roaring House Lannister...
