If you thought the Uglydoll x DC Comics collaboration was going to stop at plush versions of Babo as Superman and Ice-Bat as Batman, prepare for plastic. Funko will be bringing vinyl versions of Uglydoll characters decked out in DC superhero costumes into the fold in 2014. First up? Ice-Bat as Batman, Babo as Superman and Wedgehead as Robin.
Wednesday links await after the cut.
Not content to merely cosplay as DC Comics superheroes, NHK and sometime Target spokesfurson, and all-around manga star Domo is getting a full-on Revoltech action figure from Kaiyodo. Set to debut in April for around $30-40, the new Domo figure is highly articulated and comes packed with a TV, a remote control, a bowl of rice, chopsticks, four swappable hands and four sets of interchangable eyes. There's "mad" eyes, "teary" eyes, closed eyelid eyes and sleepy eyes. That provides something like 128 combinations that can be mixed and matched and rotated to a collector's content, which is good because Domo is an expressive fellow.
Following the current season of the dance/gun/dinosaur-themed Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger, Toei will launch its 38th Super Sentai series, Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger. It's all about trains! Train track helmets, railroad crossing chest motifs, a giant combined train mech known as the TokkyuOh, electronic train ticket device morphers called Tokkyu Chargers -- this show looks like it's going to be the right kind off the rails.

Between its 6" articulated Voltron action figure, deluxe Voltron Force toys and massive 23" tall Voltron assembled from five sizable robotic lions and their 3.75" pilots, Mattel covered a number of toy bases while holding the brand's toy license through 2012. And yet, there was always a sweet spot defined by the Shogun Warriors and Trendmasters toys of the past that only Toynami ever seemed to truly rekindle. Now following up a 25th anniversary Voltron set from a few years ago, Toynami has returned to held defend the universe with an 11" tall diecast Voltron 30th Anniversary Collectors Set.
When last time we saw the DC Comics Variant Play Arts Kai versions of Aquaman and Cyborg, the figures were standing stoically in a glass case at NYCC. With the figures' upcoming release in the third quarter of 2014 approaching, however, Square Enix has cut loose with new promo images each of the roughly 9" tall toys.
Following last week's Chitauri-riffic 1/6 scale collectible figure announcements from Hot Toys, fans of The Avengers film will be pleased to see that the toymaker is finally getting to the Hulk's better half, Dr. Bruce Banner. What's more, Hot Toys is releasing a special edition combo pack that pairs Banner and the Hulk... in some markets.
Bandai's Tamashii Nations toys look stellar at conventions when Bluefin displays its wares, and that has as much to do with the toys themselves as it does their unique environments. Come April, even the most casual collectors will be able to come closer to achieving the same level of display detail on their own with new stand bases from the Tamashii Stage line.
