Costume Drama: The Ever-Changing Look of America Chavez
After a couple of years as the undisputed champion of ‘character most bafflingly lacking their own comic’, Ms America Chavez finally has a solo title. With the second issue about to land, it’s a good time to look at one of the very best things about the character: her costume design.

Comics' Sexiest Female Characters (From A Queer Perspective)
The problem with "sexiest women in comics" lists is that they tend to get wrapped up in the presumptive male gaze and the assumption of a male readership. Basically, you end up with a bunch of sexist ideas about what men want women to be. So we wondered, what would such a list look like if the male gaze was taken out of the equation? We gathered some of our queer female and non-binary writers to nominate, vote for, and write up our own list of the hottest female characters in comics, from a queer perspective.

The World That's Coming: Five Hopes For Superhero Comics In 2017
2016 has been quite a year, and we can only imagine what 2017 will bring. As I look back at what superhero comics have been in the past year, I can't help but think about what the future holds. DC Rebirth, I admit as someone who was skeptical going in, has overall led to some great comics. Civil War II has been less encouraging, although there have still been some very good Marvel comics this year. DC and Marvel comics seem simultaneously to always be relaunching and never changing. But there are changes creeping in around the edges if you pay attention. With that in mind, I've put together five hopes --- five suggested resolutions if you will --- for what I'd like to see from mainstream superhero comics in 2017.

Decade-By-Decade Superteam Fantasy Draft: Day Two
We're looking back at the long and weird history of superhero comics by picking our favorite heroes from each decade in our latest fantasy draft. Each team must include one character who debuted before 1950, one character that debuted in each decade from the '50s to the '90s, and one character that debuted in 2000 or beyond, plus two wildcard picks from before and after 1980, for a total team of nine characters. Today our writers pick a Doom Patroller, a dog, an extreme teen, a latter-day Stan Lee creation, and some of the most popular heroes of the 21st century

A-Force Arrives At 'Avengers Academy' For Christmas
This year, I've been more than a little bit obsessed with TinyCo's mobile superhero management game Avengers Academy. Its cute designs and fun scripts have been a bright light of superheroic fun, and its willingness to feature new and niche characters alongside A-list heavyweights has been a highlight of the gameplay experience. However, since the game's launch, there have been a number of characters fans have been clamoring to get their hands on, and now it seems a number of them are coming all at once, as Marvel and TinyCo have announced the December event will be themed around A-Force, bringing the likes of Captain Marvel, She-Hulk and Ms. America to the campus.

Last month, Marvel announced an ongoing series starring breakout fan-favorite character America Chavez, simply titled America. While at the time no other information was available other than a Jamie McKelvie cover, today the publisher has announced the series will be helmed by Young Adult author Gabby Rivera and Howard The Duck's Joe Quinones.

Marvel Comics Finally Announces A Ms. America Ongoing Comic
When Marvel Comics announced its new slate of books under the Marvel Now banner, one of the biggest holes in its line-up seemed to be the lack of a book featuring the fan-favorite character Ms. America Chavez. Today at New York Comic Con, the publisher finally acquiesced and unveiled plans for an ongoing title set to debut next year titled simply America.

Waiting To Relaunch: Five Marvel Properties That Need A Comic
It seems that at least once a year the Big Two superhero publishers push for a major relaunch of their titles with a wave of new number ones that often feature characters that haven’t had an ongoing series in a long while. The choices are sometimes baffling, but the relaunches usually result in at least a few surprise hits, like The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Marvel is currently in the process of launching an all-new, all-different Marvel Now with characters like Foolkiller and Solo, but there are a lot of great characters that just aren't being used to their full potential. We’ve put together a list of five ideal candidates for the next big Marvel relaunch, or the next phase of the current one.

Finally, A Solo Series For Miss America... Vasquez?
Fans have been demanding a Ms. America series from Marvel Comics for years, and while recent teasers seemed to suggest we might get one as part of the latest incarnation of Marvel NOW, it failed to materialize. Unabashedly capitalizing on the character’s popularity, Ms. America’s creators Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta have announced a brand-new, all-original character named... America Vasquez, who will star in a new Image Comics series, All-America Comix.
