Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

Like it or not, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is only weeks away, and people are getting ready to witness the ultimate smackdown in cinemas around the world. While we all know that Superman and Batman are best friends in real life, and would never get in a fight, these confrontations have happened on occasion, in Elseworld stories such as The Dark Knight Returns and The New 52. In preparation for the colossal clash, artist Steve Downer of The Difference creative studio has put together an infographic of previous super-brawls to see who has the upper hand heading into their biggest battle yet.

Just over a week will see gods and men brawl for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, firmly cementing Henry Cavill’s broody Man of Steel and Ben Affleck’s somehow-less-broody Dark Knight as our live-action DC mainstage. The cast of The Flash has their own take on who might win the day, even as the movies summarily refuse to acknowledge their existence.

There have been so many damn Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailers and teasers I’ve lost count. But this one is supposedly the final one. At least until the next one. Man I tell you, this justice is taking its sweet time dawning.

Last week we learned that Jena Malone’s secret role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice had been cut from the theatrical release, though her scene (which is presumably brief) will be restored for the Ultimate Edition on Blu-ray and DVD. But you won’t have to wait until that version hits shelves to find out who Malone is playing in Zack Snyder’s superhero epic, since it looks like Warner Bros. has accidentally spilled the beans.

It’s only been four years since Christopher Nolan concluded his Dark Knight trilogy, so when Zack Snyder announce Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, there were some understandable rumors that Christian Bale might be reprising his superhero role. Since Snyder’s film effectively reboots Batman, Bale reprising his role as the caped crusader was never really plausible — but the director did consider giving Bale a different role in the film.

Ever since Warner Bros. revealed that first promo image of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman at Comic-Con a couple of years ago, we’ve been anxiously waiting for our chance to see her on the big screen. The trailers have only gotten us more excited, as Gadot’s superhero looks to be one of the most interesting things about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. And although she’s making her debut in a movie about two other iconic superheroes, Gadot wants fans to know that Wonder Woman isn’t there to support those guys or service their story.

Have you heard? There's a new superhero movie on the horizon. Some might even say it will bring about the dawn of a new cinematic universe. That's right, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is mere weeks away, and with it comes the burden of ushering in a new era in DC Comics' and Warner Brothers' film history. The 4" figures may look like they're ready for battle, but that's a good thing since they'll help you get through the day once you win a set to place on your desk.

It’s both cool and a little silly to hear the name “Alfred” come out of Ben Affleck’s mouth, but the brief moments we’ve seen between our new Batman and Jeremy Irons’ Alfred have been one of the highlights of the trailers and TV spots for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The latest spot opens with Bruce Wayne and his most trusted friend bantering about the Dark Knight’s age, though that does not stop him from taking on the Man of Steel later on in the new sneak peek.

Of all the movies-that-could-have-been, Darren Aronofsky’s Wolverine and Batman movies are two of the more curious unmade projects. Before Christopher Nolan rebooted the Batman franchise and inspired a slew of gritty comic book adaptations, Aronofsky was briefly attached to helm a Dark Knight movie based on Frank Miller’s Year One. Much has been written about the project, and in a rare new interview, Miller himself explains what it might have been and why it was never made.
