‘Preacher’ Drops a ‘Breaking Bad’ Easter Egg to Make Your Head Hurt

Preacher Breaking Bad Easter Egg

We’ve seen AMC series drop a number of easter eggs between shows like Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, and Preacher seems to be getting in on the fun as well. Penultimate Season 1 episode “Finish the Song” made a notable connection with a famous Breaking Bad scene, but what does it mean for fan theories that the shows share a universe?

‘Preacher’ Showrunner Sam Catlin on Adapting a Wild Comic Book, Religious Beliefs, and ‘Breaking Bad’

In the wrong hands, AMC’s ‘Preacher’ could have been a bloated mess.

The new series, which premiered last Sunday, has Christianity and vampires, angels and demons, extreme gore and goofy humor, and a kid named Arseface with a mouth that looks like a, well, you can imagine. Blending the supernatural with gruesome violence and a playful sense of humor is risky for a TV show, especially one based on a comic book with a cult following. But Breaking Bad producer Sam Catlin, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg have pulled it off in what’s no doubt the wackiest and most fun new show of 2016.

Dennis Culver’s ‘Breaking Bad’ Poster Has All The… Elements… Of The Television Show

I'm going to be honest with you, folks: I only made it about eight episodes into Breaking Bad before I had to tap out. It's not that it wasn't good, you understand, but man, it was just too intense. I was watching that thing at the gym and by the time Jesse was trying to dissolve that body in the bathtub instead of just buying a damn plastic tub, I felt like my heart was going to explode. It was not a show for me.

But that doesn't mean that I can't recognize when someone's doing something pretty awesome with it, which brought me to Dennis Culver and the poster he made featuring 55 characters from the series.

Mike Wrobel’s Movie Posters Are Awesome, Mostly Due To Kurt Russel Content

Art by Mike Wrobel,

Every now and then I'll get away from comics long enough to swing by the movie theater, and I've noticed that the posters just aren't getting any better. I mean, really, how many times can we see someone posing while looking seriously to their left or a close-up of somebody's face with four lines of text written over it before it's time for a revolution?

Fortunately, there are artists out there working to shape things up, and Mike Wrobel is among them. He's done some fantastic art, including posters for classic movies like Alien, The Thing and Friday the 13th -- and luckily for all of us, they contain a good amount of Kurt Russel. Check out our favorites below!

When it was announced that Ben Affleck would be playing Batman in the upcoming Superman/Batman film, people had feelings. Hank and Marie from Breaking Bad, however, decided they'd do their due diligence before passing judgment, by watching Affleck's performance in Daredevil. Like so many of us, they were horrified.

BB lede

Breaking Bad returns tonight for the first of its final eight episodes. Several loose ends will likely be tied up in the series' final season, with many questions answered. But the most pressing question on most viewers minds seems pretty obvious: How would Walter and Jesse fair in Gotham City? The folks at Cinefix have the answer with Heisenberg and Pink Man, an animated short inspired by Filmation's 1960's Batman cartoons. Check out this tale of the Dynamic (Drug Dealing) Duo after the cut. Warning: if you're way behind on the series, there are definitely a few spoilers ahead.

Francesco Francavilla’s ‘Breaking Bad’ Art Part Of A Special Package For The Cast And Crew

Breaking Bad lede

Breaking Bad returns this weekend for its final season, and like a lot of us, Francesco Francavilla is a pretty big fan. So much so, in fact, that he's created minimalist posters for episodes of the series' first two seasons. They've spread around the internet quite a bit, and a lot of people have enjoyed them -- including the producers of the show, who asked Francavilla's permission to use some of the images in an exclusive hardcover book they put together that will be distributed among the cast and crew only.

Parting Shot: Bring America’s Favorite Meth Dealer Home With This ‘Breaking Bad’ Toy

I'm still only on season three of Breaking Bad (I know, I know), so I'm hardly an expert, or as devoted a viewer as so many are of the critically-acclaimed series. That said, I still want this Walter White toy in my home. Designed by Mezco, this Comic-Con 2013 Summer Exclusive features White in his hazmat suit, a 55 gallon chemical drum, a few lab bottles and containers (you know, for making Meth), and a scale replica of the fly swatter from the season three episode "Fly." With a limited print run of 1,500, it will likely go fast, as these things always do.
