CBS’ Supergirl got off to a rocky start after the mixed reaction of its initial trailer, followed swiftly by the pilot leak, and while it’s hard to say what we’ll see at Comic-Con 2015, the latest trailer puts Supergirl’s strength on full display. The first trailer for CBS’ forthcoming Supergirl series came under a fair bit of scrutiny for hewing too close to romantic comedies, but the network may want to brace itself for even more exposure. Months before its debut, the full Supergirl pilot has leaked online through torrent websites.

CBS forthcoming Supergirl series has followed The Flash’s lead in returning past franchise stars to the new edition, recruiting Lois & Clark star Dean Cain and original cinematic Supergirl Helen Slater for “top-secret” roles. Might the former Superman and Supergirl’s characters be so easy to identify in CBS’ rendition, however?

CBS’ forthcoming Supergirl series boasts a number of DC figures among its primary cast, and while Kara Zor-El and Jimmy Olsen have already been found, two new figures from DC lore have joined the party. Calista Flockhart will return to television to portray Superman media mogul Cat Grant, while Nashville star Laura Benanti will play Kara’s Kryptonian mother.

Good news this week for fans of ComicsAlliance's officially ranked Third Greatest Comic Book Character Of All Time: Mehcad Brooks has been cast in the role of Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen in CBS's upcoming Supergirl show, meaning that the long national nightmare of Olsen-free television that we have suffered since 2009, when Jimmy was killed off on the 8th season finale of Smallville, is finally over. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brooks's Olsen will be joining the ranks of other established comic book characters like the Toyman and -- no kidding -- Cyborg Superman in the cast, and will be featured on the increasingly bizarre-sounding show as a photographer at CatCo, a media company in National City founded by Cat Grant, where Supergirl works in her civilian identity, when she's not involved in what has been described as a crime procedural. Also included in the announcement, though, was the idea that Kara will have a crush on him, hinting at a relationship between the two characters.
