Marvel Television has released the first teaser for its forthcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy animated series, set to air next year on the Disney XD channel. The clip introduces viewers to two of the animated cast -- Rocket Raccoon in gun-toting action, and Star-Lord offering up a taste of his best cocky swag -- and provides a taste of the show's fast-moving, neon-heavy animation style.
The animated series was "announced" at New York Comic-Con on Friday (it's been announced at least twice previously, including at San Diego Comic-Con, but people have short memories for things they haven't see). No official launch date has been given, as the series is still in production.
Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man is kicking off a new season on Disney XD Sunday with a slightly modified title--it's now Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors--and, from the looks of these clips, a somewhat modified tone.
The two-part season opener, titled "The Avenging Spider-Man," will follow Spidey as he joins up with the Avengers to take on a whole bunch of villains including Loki, Doctor Octopus, Fin Fang Foom, and Attuma. Things go awry when Loki takes control of Spider-Man's body, and the whole affair simply seems less goofy than the show's previous efforts.
"My name is Miles Morales, and I'm Spider-Man." With those words, Donald Glover takes his place among the ranks of official on-screen Spider-Men.
It's been known for a while now that Miles Morales, the Ultimate Universe version of Spider-Man, would make his screen debut in an upcoming episode of the Disney XD series Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors, but only now do we know that the part will be voiced by actor and Spidey fan Donald Glover. It's a brilliant casting decision that we choose to interpret as the first step towards more Miles in other media, rather than an end in its own right.
If there wasn't already a TV show called Spider-Man Unlimited, this would be the time to break out that title.
Marvel has released details about the newest season of Ultimate Spider-Man on Disney XD, which premieres August 31. Not only does the show have a new subtitle for its third season, "Web Warriors," but it's also going to feature a whole bunch of Spider-People in its episodes. Miles Morales, Agent Venom (presumably Flash Thompson), and a new Iron Spider -- who is none other than former Hulk and Hercules compatriot Amadeus Cho -- will all appear, and from the looks of it, Spider-Girl, Spider-Ham, Spider-Man Noir and Spider-Man 2099 will be in the mix, too.
I don't watch much anime, so I have never seen the animated adaptation of Fujiko Fujio's Doraemonmanga. That, however, may have to change, especially since CA editor Caleb Goellner just summed it up for me as "a robot cat from the future who travels back in time to be friends with kids and fight the Terminator." That kind of sounds like exactly the sort of thing that I would be into, even if the Terminator stuff turned out to just be a one-time gag.
Fortunately, it looks like I'll have my chance this summer: Disney XD is planning to air a 26-episode run of one of the latest Doraemon series, five times a week, in a block of programming designed for younger, elementary school-aged kids.
It's been roughly two years since they were announced, but Disney XD's long-planned Marvel superhero cartoons, Avengers Assemble and Hulk and the Agents of SMASH have finally been given proper release dates, voice casts and new posters showcasing their animated styles.
Bummed as I was to say goodbye to new episodes of Batman: The Brave and the Bold back in 2011, it's legit to see that star Diedrich Bader hasn't strayed too far from voicing more superhero show fare. This Su
