To this point, DC Collectibles has been reticent to deliver action figures based on the movie properties Warner Bros. produces based on the DC Comics library. There have been statues and replicas galore, but few actual action figures from DC's in-house collectibles team have been of the cinematic oeuvre. With the DC Cinematic Universe kicking into high gear this year, it's time for the DC Films Premium line to make its debut. The first figures for the line will include a mash-up of Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice characters, all set to arrive in September. Armored Batman and Superman will represent BVS, with Zod, Faora and Jor-El coming from MoS. Now, I know there probably weren't too many people banging at the gates, begging for more Russel Crowe Jor-El figures, but at least his Kryptonian armor makes him a bit more interesting than any potential Kevin Costner Pa Kent would ever be. That's not a big factor in Jor-El's favor, but the guy's gotta take pluses where he can.

Superman and General Zod may be the primary brawlers in Man of Steel, but Square Enix isn't stopping at a mere two Kryptonians in its deluxe Play Arts Kai line. Following the release of the Henry Cavill and Michael Shannon toys will be new figures of Jor-El and Faora, bearing the likenesses of actors Russell Crowe and Antje Traue.

Like a lot of longtime Superman fans, I found myself experiencing my share of cognitive and emotional dissonance watching the new Man of Steel movie. One thing was clear, however: Faora was totally dope! The Kryptonian killing machine has her own unique history in DC Comics lore, but the movie version especially resonated with me because she's essentially the closest thing Dragon Ball Z fans may ever see to a live action Vegeta (the less we all entertain the idea of a sequel to Dragonball: Evolution, the better). Indulge in a comparison chart detailing some key similarities and differences between the two proud/psychotic alien warriors with us after the cut, but beware of mild spoilers if you haven't seen MoS just yet.
