Guillermo Del Toro Claims ‘Justice League Dark’ Movie Is Still Happening

jldark9

In the month or so that follows San Diego Comic-Con, things can get a little hazy. Stories can fall away, and there's some serious catching up that comes after the fervor and madness.

Case in point: When Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment released its extremely vague movie schedule last week, I speculated that one of the dozen or so movies set for release could be a Justice League Dark movie directed (or at least produced) by Guillermo Del Toro. It's a project del Toro has been talking about for a couple years. Now it seems like all but a done deal, if Del Toro's Comic-Con interview with IGN is much of an indication.

Familiar Helmet In ‘Constantine’ Trailer Teases Appearance Of Another DC Comics Magic Man [Video]

Untitled-1

I'll start with the bad: The new trailer for NBC's new Constantine TV series confirms that the pronunciation of the lead character's name will be the movie version (Kon-stan-teen) instead of the comics version (Kon-stan-tyne). Now the good news: It looks like Dr. Fate is going to be in it somehow, which means this is going to be a full-on DC Comics TV show.

Guillermo del Toro Creates ‘Treehouse Of Horror’ Couch Gag For ‘The Simpsons’ [Video]

The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror Hellboy

In yet another moment clearly meant to remind you that you are no longer young, The Simpsons is about to air it's 24th "Treehouse of Horror" Halloween special. Any current or lapsed fan of the show is familiar with a few of the traditions that go into the annual episode, including the altered opening and horror-inspired Couch Gag. The theme continues this year, and this time the producers of the show brought on Guillermo del Toro to create the opening. Just under three minutes long, the animation features guest appearances by a few comic characters, as well as a nod to Futurama, and some inspiration from Mad magazine and former Hellboy artist and frequent del Toro collaborator Guy Davis.

As hopeful as Justice League fans are about the possibility of DC Comics' flagship heroes teaming up in a proper feature film come 2015, it seems those currently enjoying the magical and mystical corner of DC's New 52 in titles like Swamp Thing and Justice League Dark have just as much to be excited about in the not-too-distant future.
