Cast Party: Who Should Star in 'Sandman Mystery Theatre'?
Welcome to Cast Party, the feature that imagines a world with even more live action comic book adaptations than we currently have, and comes up with arguably the best casting suggestions you’re ever going to find for the movies and shows we wish could exist. This week we're turning to one of my very favorite comics of the '90s: Sandman Mystery Theatre. The original creative team was Matt Wagner and Guy Davis, taking inspiration from the original Sandman comics by Gardner Fox and Bert Christman. There's a new collection out of the first 12 issues, so this seems like the perfect time to revisit it.

The question most often asked of the ComicsAlliance staff is a variation of, "Which comic books should I be reading?" or, "I'm new to comics, what's a good place to start?" The Wednesday deluge of new comic books, graphic novels and collected editions can be daunting even for the longtime reader, much less for those totally unfamiliar with creators, characters and publishers, and the dark mysteries of comic book shopping like variants, pre-ordering, and formats.

We make a regular practice at ComicsAlliance of spotlighting particular artists or specific bodies of work, but because cartoonists, illustrators and their fans share countless numbers of great images on sites like Flickr, Tumblr, DeviantArt and seemingly infinite art blogs that we've created Best Art Ever (This Week), a weekly depository for just some of the pieces of especially compelling artwork that we come across in our regular travels across the Web. Some of it's new, some of it's old, some of it's created by working professionals, some of it's created by future stars, some of it's created by talented fans, and some of it's endearingly silly. All of it's awesome. In honor of this year's 75th anniversary of the first appearance of Superman and this weekend's release of Man of Steel, we present for the second time a compilation of some of the coolest portraits of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster's brilliant creation that we've highlighted in this feature over the last few years. We know it's cheating but we didn't count on going away for a month and then coming back in the middle of a big media event. All-new next week evermore.

‘Reed Gunther’ Rides Tall and Goofy at Image [Exclusive Preview]
On sale in June is the first issue of Reed Gunther, a delightfully anarchic all-ages series from Images Comics. Created by brothers Shane Houghton and Chris Houghton, the heavily buzzed-about book depicts the exploits of the lovably inept cowboy adventurer Reed Gunther and his curiously bright and typically frustrated grizzly bear, Sterling...

Guy Davis to Exit ‘B.P.R.D.’, Dark Horse Welcomes New Artist Tyler Crook
In what's certainly the most traumatic creative team shakeup we've seen in recent memory, Guy Davis and Dark Horse Comics announced over the weekend that the artist will leave his longtime and hugely acclaimed gig at B.P.R.D. The Hellboy spinoff, which is published as an ongoing series of miniseries, has been illustrated by Davis since 2004, and his superlative work has been instrumental in making

Yeah, I really just wrote "3-B" in a headline. You would too if Dark Horse Comics shot you an exclusive (with the exception of Georges Jeanty's "Buffy" variant) first look at its most prominent titles beginning with the letter "B" out this October...
