I think we can all agree that the American educational system could use some improvements, and no institution embodies that idea more than Gotham City's prestigious Gotham Academy. There's high tuition that prices quality education out of the reach of the middle class, an emphasis on standardized testing that doesn't prepare students for real-world problem solving, and, perhaps most pressing, the fact that pretty much everyone on staff has committed some kind of thematic crime that has led them to fight the vigilante known as Batman. Actually, in retrospect, that might be one of the school's more positive points, but as its second semester rolls on, promising students like Colton Rivera and Pomeline Fritch are having difficulty pursuing a proper education thanks to the fact that most, if not all, of their teachers are in fact arch-criminals. Check out a preview to see for yourself!

Fall In With A Bad Crowd In 'Gotham Academy: Second Semester' #1
I'll admit that I've been a little worried about Gotham Academy. I mean, yes, we all knew that the fantastic series of Gotham City's most prestigious private school (which of course has an extensive and extremely dangerous set of catacombs and underground tunnels that seem to lead directly to Arkham Asylum, because it's Gotham City and that's how they roll) was due for a comeback in DC's Rebirth era, but that news was such a relief that it almost seemed too good to be true. Now, though, we're only a week away from the story's return in the pages of Gotham Academy: Second Semester in next week's all-new #1. That means we can all rejoice --- at least for a second. For you see, in among all the horrors and crimes of Gotham City is the most dire problem of all: Olive Silverlock might be falling in... with the wrong crowd!

Boom Reveals Retailer Variants For 'Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy'
The upcoming crossover between DC's Gotham Academy and Boom Box's Lumberjanes is on track to be the most highly anticipated team-up of the year --- and considering that we've already seen the cast of GI Joe in a karate tournament against the world warriors of Street Fighter and a Batman/TMNT story where Mr. Freeze was turned into an actual polar bear, that's saying something. Point being, anticipation is running pretty high. So high, in fact, that the first issue of Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy has racked up an impressive roster of nine covers, including retailer-exclusive variants from artists like Veronica Fish, LJ co-creator Brooke Allen, and more. Check them out below (along with the five regular covers)!

This week's most exciting news was undoubtedly the announcement of the Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy crossover, coming in June from Chynna Clugston-Flores and Rosemary Valero-O'Connell. The thing is, though, aside from the creative team, any details of the actual plot of the series have been a kept as hidden as the mysteries of a haunted forest and/or suspiciously supervillainous private school. I mean, sure, we can pretty much expect that we're going to see mysteries and friendship, but beyond that? Who knows. But to tide us over in the meantime, Boom Studios has sent over an exclusive look at the incentive cover for the first issue of the crossover by Gotham Academy artist Karl Kerschl --- and in the process, they have provided us with one major clue. There will be a tree involved.

New 'Assassin's Creed' Games To Star Comic Book Characters
The great thing about Assassin's Creed is that the long history built into the games' plot about the centuries-long war between the Assassins and Templars means that you can take your story just about anywhere --- and any time. Well, actually, no, that's not true; the actual great thing about Assassin's Creed is all the gymnastic stabbing, but aside from that, it's all the different stories you can tell. And given that the games have been a pretty solid hit for Ubisoft, it makes sense that they're going more places than ever --- and when the next two chapters of Assassin's Creed Chronicles hit at the beginning of 2016, they're taking characters created by comic's own Brenden Fletcher, Cameron Stewart and Karl Kerschl with them.
