Unsinkable Ship: All The Girls Love Kitty (Especially Illyana)
Illyana Rasputin was Kitty Pryde's first true love, and you'll never convince me otherwise. Sure, Kitty had already expressed an interest in Illyana's brother Piotr (the gentle giant known as Colossus), but at the time that was more of a childhood crush. It was only later, after Kitty had become an adult without Piotr getting much older, that later writers decided that Kitty and Colossus had been "true love." Kitty's relationship with Illyana, meanwhile, was a close connection between two equals.

The Replacements: Jean Grey And The Legacy Of The Phoenix
Since the dawn of the Silver Age, legacy characters have been a staple of superhero fiction, and having a new character step into a well loved roll can open up new opportunities for writers and artists to tell different kinds of stories. In The Replacements, we’ll look back at the notable and not-so-notable heroes and villains to assume some of the most iconic mantles in the superhero genre. This week, in honor of Mutant Week, we’re looking at the X-Men’s most storied legacy position. That’s right, we’re looking at the women, men, and clones who have at one time or another called themselves Phoenix.

Your scores will be added to ours to determine the top 100 X-Men. Today we're voting on two of Kitty Pryde's very best friends, the dragon and the demon. Kotobukiya Brandishes Magik For Its Uncanny X-Men Statue Series
Ilyana Rasputin has been a part of the X-Men family for decades, but her most recent incarnation as a member of Cyclops' Uncanny X-Men team has elevated her prominence in the Marvel Universe. She's had an incredibly complicated history, which is often a prerequisite for membership in the X-Men, but to be fair, she really came into her own in the Marvel Now era. Now, after the success of the the ArtFX+ Avengers line, Kotobukiya has been filling out the roster of the Marvel Now X-Men. To this point, Cyclops and Emma Frost have been fully revealed, with Magik previously only being teased as a prototype at SDCC 2015. This week, Koto officially unveiled the painted prototype of the Adi Granov-designed statue, showing Illyana in her bad-ass splendor.

It's easy to get lost in the sea of companies offering statues, figures and other collectibles at San Diego Comic-Con, but it's awful hard to miss Kotobukiya's bright green banners wherever it sets up. With a display full of statues, the company's SDCC 2015 showings introduced new items a range of sizes and from a variety of licenses.

Hasbro Dr. Strange Book of Vishanti Box Set Review
This year at San Diego Comic-Con, Hasbro is finally giving Dr. Strange and many of Marvel's other magical characters their due. For as long as Hasbro has been in charge of the Legends line, fans have been clamoring for characters like Magik and Brother Voodoo to show up. While those might sound like rather non-traditional choices for a mass market toy line, the roster for Legends has grown so much over the past few years that it's actually not that surprising to see heroes like Illyana Rasputin finally rendered in action figure form. In fact, Brother Voodoo, Magik and Dormammu were characters Hasbro teased at SDCC within the last few years, but wave after wave of the Legends were released at retail with little hint of their inclusion. Finally, Hasbro unveiled the Book of Vishanti box set ahead of SDCC '15, which featured the aforementioned trio, as well as a variant of the just-released Dr. Strange and the all-new Hela. Oh, and there's this little thing in there called the Eye of Agamotto in there, too. As box sets go, it's an impressive piece of work, and one that's sure to make a lot of die-hard Marvel magic fans very happy.
