Best Art Ever (This Week) – Superman 75th Anniversary Edition
We make a regular practice at ComicsAlliance of spotlighting particular artists or specific bodies of work, but because cartoonists, illustrators and their fans share countless numbers of great images on sites like Flickr, Tumblr, DeviantArt and seemingly infinite art blogs that we've created Best Art Ever (This Week), a weekly depository for just some of the pieces of especially compelling artwork that we come across in our regular travels across the Web. Some of it's new, some of it's old, some of it's created by working professionals, some of it's created by future stars, some of it's created by talented fans, and some of it's endearingly silly. All of it's awesome. In honor of this year's 75th anniversary of the first appearance of Superman and this weekend's release of Man of Steel, we present for the second time a compilation of some of the coolest portraits of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster's brilliant creation that we've highlighted in this feature over the last few years. We know it's cheating but we didn't count on going away for a month and then coming back in the middle of a big media event. All-new next week evermore.

Parting Shot: Killer Croc Exchanges Christmas Cookies with Supergirl and Batgirl
One of my favorite cartoonists of the last couple of years, Mike Maihack once said he was done writing and drawing what are manifestly the cutest Supergirl and Batgirl team-up comic strips of all time, citing some kind of strange desire to work on "his own projects" that have, like, "true personal significance" and provide him with a sense of "creative and professional acc

One of the most devoted fans of The Hunger Games, cartoonist Mike Maihack signals the start of what's likely to be a big box office weekend for the new film based on the novels by Suzanne Collins. This handsome tribute to The Hunger Games is typical of the great cartoonist's work, which can be seen regularly in his webcomic Cleopatra in Space and in the recent Archaia release, Jim Henson's The Sto

Merry Christmas from Supergirl and Batgirl (and Mike Maihack) [Webcomic]
Cartoonist Mike Maihack concludes his trilogy of one-page Supergirl/Batgirl strips with this eminently cute Christmas-themed one-off in which the Girl of Steel once again defeats her old chum on the battlefield of fashion. In this case, Batgirl endures the superhero equivalent of getting socks for Christmas...

Mike Maihack's Supergirl/Batgirl #1 was among the standouts of DC Fifty-Too, a project led by cartoonist Jon Morris that saw independent artists from across comics and the Web create their own version of the DC Comics relaunch. Always a ComicsAlliance favorite and a regular guest star in Best Art Ever (This Week), Maihack's idea of pairing the Girl of Steel and the (Yellow-) Caped Crusader in an a

Wolverine Sips Some Tea and More In the Art of Mike Maihack
Remember that one time when MRVLCATS stormed the Internet and demanded to be loved for their bottomless pit of cuteness? Well, Mike Maihack contributed to that movement, and his felines got us looking around at a few other super-powered scenes that he's made, like Wolverine pouring a spot of tea or enjoying a brief flight over a Sentinel...
