The Will Eisner Comic Awards are the most prestigious in the comic book industry, and within the decorated history of winners there is no greater honor than being named to the ceremony's Hall of Fame. Today, the nominees for the 2017 awards have been unveiled, alongside four creators who have earned automatic entry into the Hall of Fame.
With the massive success of Gorillaz, the animated band he co-created with Blur frontman Damon Albarn, Tank Girl co-creator Jamie Hewlett arguably has one of the most identifiable art styles of any comics artist in the world.
Which is likely why the British Library in London has tapped him to to illustrate a huge banner for its new exhibit, "Comics Unmasked: Art and Anarchy in the UK," which kicks off May 2. Check out the piece used for the banner, which features a brass-knuckle wearing superheroine leaning against an alley wall, and another piece (which Hewlett is calling his second panel) after the jump.
In preparation for the October 8 release of "Tamara Drewe," Sony Classics' official trailer has officially landed on Yahoo! Based on Posy Simmonds' 2005-2007 comic strip reimagining of Thomas Harding's "Far From the Madding Crowd," the trailer sees former Bond girl Gemma Arterton take on the role of Tamara, as she practically devastates the town of her youth with nothing more than a nose job (and lots of naughty behavior)...
