WonderCon Moves To Los Angeles in 2016

wondercon-2894b

Towards the end of this weekend's WonderCon, the convention announced that it would be held in Los Angeles in 2016. The move is caused in part by planned construction on the Anahem Convention Center, and currently WonderCon only has a one year contract with LA, so it's not necessarily a permanent move. WonderCon is one of the most nomadic of conventions, having originated in Oakland, moved to San Francisco, and then moved to Anaheim. Of course, the change from Anaheim to Los Angeles is similar to the move from Oakland to San Francisco - it's not a huge shift in terms of general location.

Chuck Palahniuk’s Fight Club Sequel Coming From Dark Horse With Art By Cameron Stewart

fightclub-comic-hed

Eighteen years after Fight Club first saw print, author Chuck Palahniuk is returning to the world of Project Mayhem for a sequel -- which will take the form of a ten issue comic book series illustrated by Cameron Stewart and published by Dark Horse.

Speaking to USA Today, Palahniuk promises that the comic will pick up ten years after the events of the novel (which ends a little differently to the 1999 movie adaptation) with the unnamed Narrator struggling to be a good father to his nine-year-old son Junior, and not to repeat the mistakes his own father made with him.

Dynamite Entertainment plans to make a big splash at this year's San Diego Comic-Con to mark its 10th year in the business, and part of its plans involves a celebratory panel bringing together several of its star creators -- including one of the talents behind their new Django/Zorro comic, one Quentin Tarantino.

Tarantino is what one might call an "emerging" talent in the world of comics, but he's enjoyed some success in the field of film-making with pictures like Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, and the prequel to the Django/Zorro commic, Django Unchained. Tarantino will be joined on the panel by two of his collaborators on the project, Matt Wagner and Reginald Hudlin.

San Diego Comic-Con Doesn’t Want To Address Its Harassment Problem Because People Might Think It Has A Harassment Problem

San Diego Comic Con refuses to institute a formal harassment policy

San Diego's Comic-Con International has a problem that it doesn't want to address. See, a few weeks back, a group called GeeksForCONsent launched a petition urging Comic-Con to adopt a formal harassment policy in place of the broad, basically unenforceable "code of conduct" that's currently in place. Like many conventions, SDCC has a huge problem with women -- particularly women cosplayers -- being harassed by other con-goers and dubious media "professionals", and the present policy offers victims little recourse.
