Arrow took a surprising swing in Season 4 to kill off a major character like Katie Cassidy’s Black Canary, though it wasn’t long before word suggested Laurel might have a presence in Season 5. The most recent 2017 premiere promo seemed overwhelmingly to spoil that presence, though producers take it further to suggest a Black Canary is “always going to be there.”

Supergirl will mark the first of The CW’s DC shows to debut in 2017, while Kevin Smith adds a second series under his belt directing January 23 return “Supergirl Lives.” Our first photos take Kara and Mon-El to an alien world, running afoul of Dichen Lachman’s Roulette, and Kevin Smith’s own daughter, Harley Quinn.

The Flash Season 2 finale made a deliberate point of transforming Zoom into the exact image of demonic DC speedster “Black Flash,” and with good reason, it seems. Not only will the ghoulish figure return, he might even crop up on series outside The Flash.

Flash producers confirmed curiously early into Season 3 that Grodd would be back for a two-part episode, with little word of the apparent Gorilla City adventure since. Now, not only do bosses reveal which episodes will take us back into Grodd’s orbit, but also what role Keith David will play in the effort.

The moment Flash and Supergirl fans learned the two would share a musical crossover in 2017, Neil Patrick Harris’ Music Meister was put forth as a potential villain. We don’t yet know exactly which star will test the pipes of Barry and Kara, but whoever they are will indeed do so as The Music Meister, producers confirm.

Lest you think the reign of the Super-s at The CW was anywhere close to ending, the network passed out a generous round of renewals on Sunday, Not only is the DC foursome of Arrow, Flash, Supergirl and Legends renewed for new seasons, but so too will Supernatural return, among others.

Constantine fans got another return to form with news that Matt Ryan would reprise his NBC role for the upcoming Justice League Dark, but that was only a trial run. The demon-fighting detective (and his live-action voice) will return as an animated CW Seed series, the first photo of which is already here!

Supergirl has skewed a bit more traditional with its adaptation of famous DC characters, but it was worth wondering how the series might tackle an impish trickster from the 5th Dimension. We may now know, as set photos appear to place Once Upon a Time star Peter Gadiot in the infamous role of Mister Mxyzptlk.
