Graphic novels are a great gift idea for the comics lovers in your life, but the last few years have also seen a huge rise in the number of comics anthologies being published, many of them centered on a particular theme, or showcasing work from marginalized creators, such as people of color, women, LGBTQ people. The next generation of comics stars are making their start right now, eight pages at a time, in these brilliant anthology projects --- so here's our guide to some of the best comics anthologies to pick up this holiday season.

Now that we know Cartoon Network’s zany Justice League Action is bound for a December premiere, new trailers are suiting up all over the place. Case in point, a new international trailer introduces a few heroes we haven’t heard from yet, as Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman take on some of the DC universe’s biggest villains.

We all know Wonder Woman — she’s one of the most iconic member of the Justice League and there’s a new movie about her coming out next year, maybe you’ve heard — but what do we know about how she came to be created? The comic character’s actual history is a fascinating tale, and today Connie Britton and Oliver Platt have just been cast in Sony’s film about her origins, titled Professor Marston & The Wonder Women.

One of the fun things about Warner Bros. Interactive's new DC Legends mobile game is powering up your heroes, helping them gain new abilities to help in the fight against Nekron and the Manhunters. And once you reach the top, the heroes really become legends. Below we have a look at five of the heroes in their Legendary forms: Wonder Woman, the Flash, Raven, Dr. Fate, and Black Canary. I have yet to get far enough in the game to achieve any of this, but looking at these designs has me excited to try.

One of my favorite parts of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was Gal Gadot’s costume as Wonder Woman. Not only was it a much-needed splash of color in an otherwise monochrome film, it was also a nice departure from the overly bulky superhero costumes that have become the norm. Ben Affleck might be a great Batman, but there were times when he looked a little bit like Ralphie’s brother in A Christmas Story, too padded up to put his arms down, let alone fight his way through a warehouse of bad guys. Wonder Woman, on the other hand, looked every bit the agile warrior we were hoping for.

Everyone knows the Silver Age was pretty wacky at DC Comics. But for Wonder Woman, who was already pretty weird in the Golden Age, it was even bizzare. Silver Age Wonder Woman comics are full of giants, evil doppelgangers, aliens, and dinosaurs. There's a lot of stuff about romance and dating, but two of the love interests are a merman and a bird man. There's also a blob who sings rock and roll songs. So yeah, it's pretty strange.
