‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Adds B.J. Novak As Alistair Smythe

One of the main goals of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 would appear to be setting a world record for the most antagonists packed into one superhero film.

We already know that Electro (Jamie Foxx), The Rhino (Paul Giamatti), Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) and Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper) will appear in the film, and now, if a tweet from director Marc Webb is any indication, it looks like The Office‘s B.J. Novak will be playing yet another of the webslinger’s nemeses, the Spider-Slayer, Alistair Smythe.

Webb tweeted this to promote Novak’s new book, One More Thing:

Interestingly, both The Rhino and Smythe appeared (voiced by different actors, of course) in the tie-in video game for the first Amazing Spider-Man movie back in 2012. Does that mean that the bad guys who will appear in the sequels are somehow predicted by the video games? Can we expect Kraven in Amazing Spider-Man 3? Time will tell.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 comes to theaters on May 2.
