Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3's Chris Baker, Francis Mao, Miguel Corty, Riota Niitsuma and Seth Killian revealed some new details about the fighting game today at both the Marvel Interactive: Marvel Video Games and UMVC3 panels. There were some nice reveals, including a first look at aesthetically reworked maps based on a Marvel-heavy nighttime New York City and Metro City modeled after Marvel's "Days of Future Past" storyline, plus images of some of Spider-Man's alternate costumes. The real kickers, though? Players will have access to a special ability-enhanced "Heroes vs. Heralds" mode. Also, Galactus is now a full-fledged playable character in arcade mode. Check out more details after the jump.Spider-Man's variant skins include designs inspired by his black costume, his new Spider-Armor, his Future Foundation suit and his stealth suit.

Capcom didn't give a comprehensive look at either of the new maps, "The City Never Sleeps" or "Days of Future Past," but did share some details about the combat stages. "The City Never Sleeps" will include new nods to the Marvel Universe's famous New York City locales including The F.E.A.S.T. Center, Oscorp, The Coffee Bean, Jr's Gym, Heroes For Hire, Nelson and Murdock, the Starlight Theater and other locations/characters. The "Days of Future Past" map will include menacing Sentinels as well as the mutant poster from the cover of Uncanny X-Men #141.

In UMvC3's new "Heroes vs. Heralds" mode players will be able to access "ability cards" they collect through their fights to unlock special powers such as invisibility in mode-specific combat. There will be more than 100 cards available to unlock and access, with players able to use up to three different cards at a time. The panel gave a few examples of ability cards that will be available, including a Howard the Duck card and a Multiple Man card. According to the panel, this mode will be free to players on all versions of the game.

Card collecting "ability cards" that unlock special powers. More than 100 cards, can use a combo of 3 at a time. More than a million combinations. You can battle online. It will b free. Howard the Duck is one of the playable cards. And Multiple Man.

As for playable Galactus? He'll be available in a basic arcade mode that essentially reverses his role from Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and lets players destroy wave after wave of standard characters.
