Superheroines Struggle with Fame in ‘Ultra’ by the Luna Brothers [Full Issue]

There have been plenty of comics that deal with the idea of superheroes as modern-day celebrities, but perhaps none that focus on the relentless commercialism and pitfalls of fame quite like Ultra, the 2004 creator-owned series by the Luna Brothers. The book follows the personal lives of three superheroines -- Ultra, Aphrodite, and Cowgirl -- as they fight crime, dodge the paparazzi and have their every romantic step (or misstep) reported in the tabloids.
An deluxe hardcover collection of the complete series comes out next month from Image Comics, and we've got a massive 33-page preview -- the entire first issue, complete with the original faux advertisements where the stars of the series hock everything from cigarettes to breath mints.
