Everyone loves trivia about their favorite animated features and series, but with over 100 years of animation history behind us right now, there’s always some new obscure fact to learn. That’s why ComicsAlliance is going deep into the minutiae of your favorite names in cartoons in this continuing video series. You think you know cartoons? Well, here’s a few things you might not know!

This week we're taking a look at the defender of the universe, Voltron! Okay, to be fair, it's actually both multiple defenders and multiple universes, as the Voltron concept has spanned five different TV series and various different robots made up of other, smaller robots. This video takes a look at the concept from its debut as an adaptation of two different Japanese TV series in the 1980s, to reboots and relaunches of the concept across the decade, as well as the series that never was.

Show notes:

  • You can find the original 1984 Lion Force series on DVD beginning here.
