Everyone loves trivia about their favorite animated features and series, but with over 100 years of animation history behind us right now, there’s always some new obscure fact to learn. That’s why ComicsAlliance is going deep into the minutiae of your favorite names in cartoons in this continuing video series. You think you know cartoons? Well, here’s a few things you might not know!

All month long we're celebrating Women in Comics, so this episode we're taking a look at the Princess of Power, She-Ra! Created by Mattel and Filmation to create a franchise that appealed to girls the same way that He-Man and the Masters of the Universe appealed to boys, She-Ra managed to find success by combining aspects of fashion dolls like Barbie and exciting action storylines like its predecessor He-Man. This video takes a look at the history of the franchise, from the big screen to the small screen to behind the scenes to the toy store shelves and beyond.

Show notes:

  • You can see last week's video about He-Man here.
  • She-Ra: Princess of Power season one is here.
  • The updated She-Ra origin from DC's current line of MOTU comics is here, and the super-rad origin of Hordak is here.
