On Tuesday evening a rumor broke that Marvel is working on a New Warriors television series that would feature Squirrel Girl in a lead role. While there has been some buzz from various actresses interested in playing Squirrel Girl over the past few months, the New Warriors is an interesting place for her to land. You may know all about Squirrel Girl from her current ongoing by Ryan North, Erica Henderson and Rico Renzi, but if you're less familiar with the New Warriors, we've put together a Crash Course for you.

Lest you think Marvel’s branch-out into Hulu for a Runaways series was unusual enough, things are about to get even more squirrel-ly. Not only is a New Warriors comedy series officially in development, but fan-favorite Squirrel Girl might take center stage on the live-action project.

The solicitations for November's books reveal that Superior Foes Of Spider-Man, by Nick Spencer, and Steve Lieber, and the New Warriors revival, by Christopher Yost and Marcus To, will offer up their swan songs that month. Neither series sold particularly well -- both were near the bottom of the charts -- but each drew critical acclaim, particularly Superior Foes.
