2011 is shaping up to be a pretty big year for Marvel's God of Thunder: Not only will he be hitting the big screen in a film directed by Kenneth Branagh, but Sega announced today that they're going to be publishing "Thor" games across every major platform!

There are no screenshots yet -- which is why I had to make my own, seen above -- but from the information they've put out, it sounds like it could be pretty awesome. According to the press release, the game will span the Nine Worlds of Norse mythology and feature Thor hammering his way through comic book villains like Ulik the Troll, Ymir the Frost Giant, and Surtur, the fire giant at the heart of one of writer/artist Walter Simonson's most epic stories. And not only that, but upcoming Thor writer Matt Fraction was brought in as a story consultant, and since that guy once did a story where everyone who had ever died came back to life and formed a giantic "Blood Colossus" that Thor had to fight, the possibilities here are pretty exciting.

They've also said that the games will be tailored to their systems, including a third-person action game on XBox 360 and PS3, a 2D side-scroller for DS and PSP (which I can only hope matches my 8-Bit dreams), and a Wii version that will undoubtedly result in so, so many Wiimotes getting thrown through TV screens.

You gotta tighten the wrist-strap folks. Otherwise, it's on you.
