Batman: Arkham Knight Set to Release in June 2015

It’s been a long while since we heard anything of the highly anticipated Batman: Arkham Knight, the last word being that the video game was pushed from its original 2014 release slot into 2015. Now, DC and Warner Bros. Games announced that the final installment has a firm release in June 2015.

We may have to wait until 2016 to see ‘Batman vs. Superman‘ onscreen, but Batman: Arkham Knight will be available to purchase on June 2, 2015, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC consoles.

In addition, Bat-fanatics will be thrilled to know that two special-edition versions of the game were also announced — The Limited Edition, retailing for $99.99 and featuring a Batman statue, steel book, art book, comic book and skin pack; and the Batmobile Edition, retailing for $199.99 and featuring a transforming Batmobile statue, steel book, art book, comic book and skin pack. Both editions will be available along with the standard game release on June 2, 2015.

Batman Arkham Knight

Arkham Knight is the culmination of the video game series that began with 2009′s Batman: Arkham Asylum, and it will take place a year after 2011′s Batman: Arkham City. Warner Bros. Games describes the installment as such:

In the explosive finale to the Arkham series, Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect. The Scarecrow returns to unite an impressive roster of super villains, including Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn, to destroy The Dark Knight forever. Batman: Arkham Knight introduces Rocksteady’s uniquely designed version of the Batmobile, which is drivable for the first time in the franchise. The addition of this legendary vehicle, combined with the acclaimed gameplay of the Batman Arkham series, offers gamers the ultimate and complete Batman experience as they tear through the streets and soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City. Be The Batman.

We’ve seen a lot of gameplay and trailers for the game, and we can’t wait to see how developers Rocksteady will bring the series to a close. Back when Arkham Knight was first set for a 2014 release, the PS4 was only a year old, and this delayed release gave adequate time to work out the kinks. The last thing we need, after all, is major malfunctions as we’re trying to enjoy the Arkham games’ epic sendoff.
