Oni Press let new facts about NBC's The Sixth Gun supernatural western TV pilot plans fly at its RevolutiONIze panel this afternoon at Emerald City Comicon 2013. Joining the already announced star Laura Ramsey as Becky Montcrief will be W. Earl Brown (Deadwood) as General Hume, Graham McTavish (The Hobbit) as Silas Hedgepeth and Aldis Hodge (Leverage) as Agent Mercer in a story by Ryan Condal (Hercules: The Thracian Wars) under director Jeffrey Reiner (Do No Harm) and producer Carlton Cuse (Lost). The pilot is, of course, adapted from Oni's ongoing The Sixth Gun comic series by Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt, which follows the inheritor of a cursed revolver and her unlikely gunslinger ally as they confront undead bandits set on claiming the ancient weapon for their own nefarious purposes. From Oni's official press release:

When asked what it feels like to have your comic book turned into a TV pilot, The Sixth Gun team couldn't be more ecstatic. "This has been a big part of my life's work and I couldn't be more humbled and overjoyed to see this series picked up," said Bunn. Hurtt added, "I'm very excited at the prospect of seeing our work brought to life and equally excited by the creative folks involved in this venture! Their enthusiasm and grasp of the world we've created is humbling!"

Colorist Bill Crabtree said, "Being on this journey with these two goofballs has been more than fun and I hope to see this show picked up for a season." Hurtt added, "I just want thank all of our fans who bought our books, came to shows to say hello, and told their friends about The Sixth Gun. Without our fans, this dream of being a comic book artist would not be real."

Though Oni wasn't able to reveal which actor would be picking up the role of Drake Sinclair, the publisher has announced that the The Sixth Gun TV pilot is set to begin shooting on March 18, meaning it shouldn't be too much longer before fans have a better idea of who will be wielding all six of the comic's titular revolvers.
