First Second Announces New Graphic Novel From Andi Watson, 'Princess Decomposia and Count Spatula'

Fresh off his lengthy series of short Gum Girl graphic novels, cartoonist Andi Watson is shifting gears toward a long-form, "adorably spooky" title coming from First Second in winter 2015.

Princess Decomposia and Count Spatula will follow the exploits of an overworked underworld princess who decides to hire a chef (who happens to also be a vampire) to help her achieve her day-to-day tasks. For more on Watson's take on the book and a first look at its interiors, hit the jump!

Here's what Watson said about his new project and its publisher in First Second's official announcement:

I was thinking which publishers I'd approach while I was finishing up Princess Decomposia and Count Spatula and First Second felt like a perfect fit for the book. Of course, publishing never works out the way you want it to and I didn't expect it to actually happen. Except this time it did. To my delight they liked the book. Since then I've enjoyed working alongside the talented team there. First Second are reaching a more diverse group of readers, librarians and booksellers than ever before, so I'm excited to join them and their impressive list of graphic novels.
