FOX’s Gotham will definitely enter a whole new world of Bat-mythology in 2016, and B.D. Wong’s take on Hugo Strange may just give us the push we needed. See for yourself in the first clip from 2016 premiere “Mr. Freeze,” along with the hour’s first photos!

USA Today scored the first official clip from the hour, as Strange presses an incarcerated Penguin to reveal his true role in Theo Galavan’s apparent death. In addition, check out the full photo set below:

So reads the official Gotham press release for February 29 return “Mr. Freeze”:

A CHILLING VILLAIN EMERGES IN GOTHAM ON AN ALL-NEW “GOTHAM” MONDAY, FEBRUARY 29, ON FOX MON FEB 29 8/7c

Penguin takes a hit for Galavan’s murder, but doesn’t let Gordon off easily. Meanwhile, Gordon and Bullock investigate the body-snatching spree of Victor Fries (guest star Nathan Darrow), one of Gotham’s preeminent cryogenics engineers in the all-new “Rise of the Villains: Mr. Freeze” winter premiere episode.

In any case, the back half of Gotham’s second season won’t just introduce us to Mr. Freeze and Hugo Strange, as Jada Pinkett Smith has been confirmed to reprise her first year role as Fish Mooney, last seen being tossed off a roof. There’s also the outside chance that Cameron Monaghan’s Not-Joker might return, given the character’s popularity, but who knows?

In the meantime, check out the latest Gotham spots below, and stay tuned for the February 29 premiere:
