As she's grown in popularity, we've seen Squirrel Girl crop up in a number of comics outside of her own series. We still haven't gotten very many collectibles based on Marvel's most unbeatable hero, but that trend is starting to catch up to the printed page. She's already gotten a Funko figure, but next year she'll also get a more premium statue in Kotobukiya's Bishoujo line.

Now ordinarily, if you imagined Squirrel Girl and bishoujo, you'd have reason to be at least mildly concerned. The "beautiful girl" statues from Kotobukiya have at times verged on the obscene, though there have been a number of recent pieces that have captured characters in more tasteful sculpts. Shunya Yamashita's take on Squirrel Girl is fortunately on the good side of the coin, and brings Doreen Green to life quite well.

Capturing a character like this in the right manner makes all the difference, and she still looks quite beautiful without relying on some pin-up posing. It would be fairly out of character for Squirrel Girl to be sculpted like the recent Loki or even the Wasp statues. I'll admit to being surprised she was even considered for a Bishoujo, but after you make a Spider-Gwen, I guess anything goes. Not that getting more Squirrel Girl goods is something to complain about, mind you. I'm just glad this statue came out so well that the little Tippy-Toe won't be ashamed to have been included.

The Squirrel Girl Bishoujo statue is available for pre-order now for $74.99, and is expected to arrive in June 2017.
