Upcoming collectible toy video game Lego Dimensions has already promised a wealth of crossover potential with the likes of Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle starring alongside each other in an adventure that spans (almost) all of Lego's properties. While we've been focused on characters from Back to the Future, Scooby-Doo and Portal joining the fray, we almost forgot about the idea that many of these characters exist in different forms within the Lego Universe already thanks to the Lego Movie. TT Games hasn't forgotten though.

In the latest trailer for the developer's new flagship Lego title, we get to see a multitude of familiar faces from all ranges of Lego lines, but it's the chance meeting of DC's Batman and Wyldstyle's former flame, Batman, that gives us the clearest idea of what to expect from the upcoming action game. The lines between realities have been blurred beyond recognition, and now Batman and Batman will have to figure out which Batman is the Batman-est Batman to don the cape and cowl.

The rest of the trailer is rife with cameos from some recognizable faces like Marty McFly, the Balrog, the Riddler, Bane, Scooby, Harley Quinn, Sauron and more. While not all of these characters will be playable, that they'll be included at all speaks to the breadth of roster and worlds in Lego Dimensions. It also speaks a bit to the potential priciness of Lego Dimensions if you want to enjoy the complete experience. The game itself will retail for $99.99, but additional level packs for worlds like Doctor Who or the Simpsons will run you another $29.99. Character packs with one accessory/vehicle will run you $14.99, but character packs with two characters and accessories will retail for $24.99.

Between Lego Dimensions' Sept. 27 release date and the end of the year, you'll have spent more than $650 if you want to collect the complete set. Sure, you're also getting some small Lego sets to build and play with, but that's a substantial investment in one game over the course of three months. Sure, Lego Dimensions looks fun, but as this is the first entry in the series, it remains to be seen whether or not it's $650 of fun. But hey, two Batmans. That's neat.
