A while back, I wrote about how skeptical I was that a Martian Manhunter solo series could ever really work, and I don't know if I have ever been proven wrong as hard as I have been by the last few months. Somehow, Rob Williams, Eddy Barrows and Ben Oliver have discovered the magic formula that makes that character work, and it involves going way over the top.

First, it was Mr. Biscuits, the alternate personality that helped J'onn fight off the Martian Maneater; then it was the new origin where we found out that the Martian Manhunter's powers are the product of ancient forbidden Martian blood magic; and now, as the series careens into its final issue, it's J'onn becoming a literal city-sized Gundam so that he can fix Mars with time travel.

Seriously, read the preview below if you think I'm kidding --- and even if you don't.

This book is an endless delight. Well, the delights are endless, anyway --- I'm pretty sure this is the final issue unless Martian Manhunter makes an unannounced but most definitely welcome return after DC's Rebirth event. Either way, if you haven't already, you need to catch up. It's incredible.

Here's the official solicitation:
