It feels like I've said this somewhere before, but Power Rangers is arguably the most successful live-action superhero franchise of all time. It's been running virtually uninterrupted since 1993, and this week, it's about to hit a major milestone. "Sync or Swim," the episode airing on Saturday, isn't just the 13th episode of the current season, Dino Charge --- it's the 800th episode of the series.

To mark the occasion, we've got an exclusive clip of the episode featuring a team-up between the Gold Ranger and the Red Ranger, and as someone who has actually watched all 800 episodes, I am almost positive that they're celebrating with the show's first-ever use of the phrase "stinking scallywag."

As far as the other milestone episodes go, "Sync or Swim" joins "Danger and Destiny Part II," (#700) the finale of the truly awesome Power Rangers RPM, and Dino Thunder's flashback-filled "Legacy of Power" (#500). In that respect, it's in pretty good company.

Of course, while 800 episodes of television is nothing to sneeze at, it's worth noting that the Japanese Super Sentai series that provides the source material for Power Rangers --- created all the way back in 1975 by manga legend Shotaro Ishinomori --- is up somewhere around 1700 and counting, so we've got a long way to go before we catch up here on this side of the Pacific.

Either way, the massive roster of Rangers that are showing up for Dino Charge --- which, according to Red Ranger Brennan Mejia, will end up totaling a solid ten by the end of the series --- makes it a pretty good show for a celebration.

The 800th episode of Power Rangers will air on Saturday, October 3, at 12 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.
