Sin City fans waiting for a followup to Robert Rodriguez's 2005 live action adaptation of Frank Miller's acclaimed crime comic can officially activate their impatience engines. Rodriguez has officially confirmed -- after kind of speculating during SXSW -- that Sin City 2 a.k.a. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For will begin filming this summer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Miller will return to co-direct with Rodriguez and co-write the screenplay with William Monahan. Rodriguez, Aaron Kaufman, Iliana Nikolic, Alexander Rodnyansky, Sergei Bespalov and Stephen L'Hereux producing. Executive producers include Miller, Harvey and Bob Weinstein and Adam Fields.Just like the last CG-heavy film, A Dame to Kill For will be shot at Rodriguez's green screen-filled Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas. Dimension Films has stated that it expects many cast members from the first film to return. In the case of this story, potential returning stars would include Clive Owen (Dwight), Michael Clarke Duncan (Manute), Mickey Rourke (Marv), Makenzie Vega (Nancy), Rosario Dawson (Gail), Michael Madsen (Bob), Elijah Wood (Kevin), Devon Aoki (Miho).

The first Sin City film spanned four interwoven comic stories, so it should be interesting to see how Miller and Rodriguez hone in on a single story for this movie -- and if they decide to work in other comic storylines or create new ones to go with it.

"The first question I am always asked is, 'When will you make another Sin City?' " Rodriquez told THR. "I have wanted to reteam with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original but have felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations. A Dame to Kill For will certainly be worth the wait."
