‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Goes BOOM! With New Comic Book Miniseries By Golden, Couceiro And Guera

The fan-favorite FX biker series Sons of Anarchy will soon speed off the small-screen and onto the paneled page.

A new teaser image from BOOM! Studios strongly implies that Sons of Anarchy is about to become the latest television series to get a comic book tie-in. The teaser offers little information beyond the Sons logo and a tentative release date of September – right around the same time the show returns for its sixth season.

For the uninitiated, Sons of Anarchy centers on a group of bikers who control a variety of criminal enterprises in the small town of Charming, California. It stars Charlie Hunnam as Jax Teller, the Vice President of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original, a man who is constantly looking for a way to get his club out of drugs and guns and onto a legitimate, less dangerous path. The series has long been described by creator, writer and producer Kurt Sutter as Hamlet on wheels, an apt description that will hopefully translate to the new BOOM! project.

Right now, there’s nothing but questions surrounding the possible Sons comic. Will Sutter write the series, or will that job go to an established comic book veteran? Is it a limited event, or an ongoing title? Will it focus on the current SAMCRO roster, or will it flash-back to the early formation of the club with Jax Teller’s father at the center of things?

Stay on the lookout for answers to these questions and more in the coming days and weeks.

Update: CBR has revealed that the creative team for the initial six-issue SoA series is writer Christopher Golden (Hellboy), artist Damian Couceiro (Planet of the Apes, Irredeemable) and cover artist R.M. Guéra.
