The Consequences of Violence: Priest And Pagulayan On Deathstroke’s Rebirth [Interview]

Deathstroke-Featured

DC's Rebirth initiative has been an opportunity to revitalize some of its core characters and get back to the roots of what made them icons in the first place. Deathstroke, AKA Slade Wilson, has been sliding more and more into antiheroism over the past few years, and was one of those characters desperately in need of a reset. Many fans were pleasantly surprised when they heard that Christopher Priest would be the writer to take the helm on that project.

Ahead of Deathstroke: Rebirth #1, ComicsAlliance caught up with Priest and artist Carlo Pagulayan to chat about the core of Deathstroke's character, his dysfunctional family and his place in the DC Universe.

Confirmed: ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Is Heading To ‘Planet Hulk’ [SDCC 2016]

Planet-Hulk-Featured

Thor: Ragnarok is set to be one heck of a film based on the information revealed so far, with a killer cast including Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Cate Blanchett as Hela, and Jeff Goldblum as The Grandmaster. We've already heard from Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo that the film is going to be a cosmic buddy movie between Thor and The Hulk, and today at San Diego Comic Con we received more information about what that might mean as Marvel unveiled a very familiar set of armor for the Jade Giant.

In a post on Twitter, Marvel's Agent M unveiled the Gladiator Hulk armor made famous in Greg Pak and Carlo Pagulayan's insta-classic "Planet Hulk" storyline. In the original story, The Illuminati (Iron Man, Mister Fantastic, Black Bolt and Doctor Strange) decided to send The Hulk off to space where he could live out his days on an idyllic and uninhibited planet.

Artisanal Killers And Bruce Wayne’s Kids: Why ‘Batman & Robin Eternal’ Was So Darn Great

Batman & Robin Eternal, DC Comics

This week marked the final issue of Batman & Robin Eternal, and while we're still close enough to it that the honeymoon has barely even started, let alone ended, I'm pretty sure that I can declare it to be my all-time favorite weekly DC project.

The shorter run benefited the project, but it was the story that made this comic great. It weaved its way through Batman's long history of sidekicks --- a history that pretty much introduced the very concept of sidekicks to the world of superhero comics --- and ended up looking at Batman, Robin, and what those characters mean, in a way that I'm not sure any other story has.

The event was introduced by DC All Access host Tiffany Smith, with DC co-publishers Jim Lee and Dan DiDio and chief creative officer and Rebirth chief architect Geoff Johns introducing and interviewing the creative teams as they joined them on stage at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

DC Comics Announces Its 2015 Event, ‘Convergence’ — But What Does It Mean For The DCU?

dc-convergence

Three years ago, DC Comics hit the continuity reset button with the launch of The New 52, seemingly wiping away the past 26 years of stories since Crisis on Infinite Earths.

But like superheroes, no story stays dead forever.

Next April, DC launches Convergence, a nine-part event series that brings the publisher's regular publishing schedule to a halt while bringing characters, places and concepts from DC's past into its current universe. It's also the culmination of the weekly series The New 52: Futures End and Earth 2: World's End, both of which wrap up just before Convergence launches.
