We make a regular practice at ComicsAlliance of spotlighting particular artists or specific bodies of work, as well as the special qualities of comic book storytelling, but because cartoonists, illustrators and their fans share countless numbers of great pinups, fan art and other illustrations on sites like Flickr, Tumblr, DeviantArt and seemingly infinite art blogs that we’ve created Best Art Ever (This Week), a weekly depository for just some of the pieces of especially compelling artwork that we come across in our regular travels across the Web. Some of it’s new, some of it’s old, some of it’s created by working professionals, some of it’s created by future stars, some of it’s created by talented fans, awnd some of it’s endearingly silly. All of it is awesome.

Marvel Reveals RADD New ‘Silver Surfer’ #1 Art And Covers By Allred, Francavilla, Samnee And Young [Preview]

Silver Surfer 1 Preview

Marvel teased a bit of Mike Allred 's art when it announced he'd be working with writer Dan Slott on a new Silver Surfer ongoing series a few months back during New York Comic Con, but today the publisher finally hit us with a wave of shiny new Norrin Radd art. In addition to Allred's previously seen cover, there's three new pages from March's Silver Surfer #1 infused with the Madman creator and recent FF artist's brand of cosmic comic energy, plus a variant cover by Francesco Francavilla, an animal variant by Chris Samnee and a (appropriately dubbed) young variant by Skottie Young. I'm pretty sure that if Kid Galactus chopmed down every planet in adorable cereal-bowl-style, Reed Richards would've just let him have Earth.

The Fantastic Four Are Your New Favorite Bobsled Team In Francesco Francavilla’s Winter Olympics Art

Francesco Francavilla Black Racer

Whether he's drawing Clint Eastwood's empty chair or art for every Breaking Bad episode, Francesco Francavilla's blog is always worth checking in onIn addition to his work on The Black Beetle, as well providing covers for several other comics, the almost impossibly prolific cartoonist is consistently posting fun art on his blog that's inspired by current events. This time he's getting into the Winter Olympics spirit, illustrating various Marvel and DC characters participating in Winter Olympics events.

Some are too obvious not to do, like Death the Black Racer cross-country skiing, but others are a bit more surprising, and you can check a few out below.

Sabrina The Teenage Witch Returns To The Apocalyptic Hellscape She Created In ‘Afterlife With Archie’ #6

Afterlife With Archie #6, Francesco Francavilla

It's been pretty well established over the last few decades that when supernatural troubles erupt in Riverdale, Sabrina the Teenage Witch is usually at the center of it. In Afterlife With Archie, however, things have gotten a little more out of hand than they usually do -- it turns out that meddling in the incomprehensible forces required to resurrect the dead has far more dire consequences than dosing Harvey with a love potion in an effort to have a nice prom date. Like, say, a full-on zombie apocalypse that's already claimed a pretty sizable chunk of the Archie cast.

That's the situation that's been going on ever since Sabrina used the Necronomicon to bring Hot Dog back to life and got banished to a nightmare hellworld for her troubles. She's been missing ever since, but in the upcoming Afterlife With Archie #6, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Francesco Francavilla finally catch up with her. Check out the exclusive reveal of both covers, including a downright Tarot-esque variant from Andrew Pepoy, and a few answers from Sacasa below!
