The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Hollywood can't get enough of superhero universes right now.
Marvel's got its Avengers movie universe at Disney. The X-Men and the Fantastic Four are going to have one at 20th Century Fox very soon. DC is in the midst of building one at Warner Bros. And now, Sony is going to build one around Spider-Man, with movies focused on bad guys. Namely, Venom and the Sinister Six.

Following a week of grainy pictures of posters, surprise villain appearances and teaser set photos, Sony and Columbia Pictures have released the first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. With three villains -- the Rhino, Electro and Green Goblin -- appearing in the film, the trailer had a short amount of time to dedicate to so many adversaries, not to mention the star of the film. But it manages to give time to everyone, while offering at least a hint, if not a really good look, at what each character will look like on screen.
You can check out the full trailer below.

Last week, a few grainy pictures of a triptych promotional poster for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 popped up online, showing Spider-Man facing off against Electro, The Rhino and Green Goblin. Today, an official image of the poster was revealed via the film's Facebook page. Further, USA Today has a first look at a few promotional stills from the film, featuring the Wall Crawler taking on Electro, pulling a few signature athletic moves, and punching a truck or two. And all of this is the lead in to the likely release of the film's first trailer this week.
You can check out the poster, as well as the early stills, below.

Even though it seems like we're well past the age of mandatory movie video game tie-ins on current-gen consoles, Activision and Beenox are still all about The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The last semi-sandbox action game served as a sort of followup to the film, with all kinds of extra animal-based mutants and robots to fight in New York City and was generally well-received by critics, so it makes sense that they're continuing to explore the game's "alternative take" on the sequel in a bigger environment and with a mightier Webslinger.
Hasbro revealed a number of new 6" Legends-scale action figures and 3.75" toys last night at its pre-New York Comic Con party. Among them? New Captain America: The Winter Soldier action figures, plus The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie toys including Electro as portrayed by Jamie Foxx. Ultimate Spider-Man was also represented with a new 6" Ultimate Green Goblin build-a-figure as part of the Spider-Man Legends Infinite series, which also includes new Black Cat, Beetle, Carnage and Superior Spider-Man. Cap fans will be happy to learn that the upcoming movie line will also include plenty of comic toys, including a Hydra soldier and a massive S.H.I.E.L.D. Mandroid build-a-figure. You can see all of our photos, plus Hasbro's official images, after the jump.
A few weeks back, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Andrew Garfield -- who plays Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the current Amazing Spider-Man film franchise -- recounted a conversation he had with a producer, in which he wondered out loud why Spider-Man couldn't be gay or bisexual. When this quote was mentioned to Stan Lee over the weekend at Fandomfest in Louisville, Kentucky, the 90-year-old co-creator of Spider-Man made an awkward attempt at a humorous response: "I figure one sex is enough for anybody."
