This ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ Hardee’s Ad Is The Worst Thing Mystique Has Ever Been Involved With [Video]

X-Men themed Hardee's ad

Folks, I have seen some dumb things involving the X-Men in my time. It is, in fact, my actual job is to see dumb things involving the X-Men on a fairly regular basis, and I have also seen more than my share of terrible ads over the years. This new ad from Hardee's and Carl's Jr. that makes an attempt to promote their Western X-Tra Bacon Burger, however, might just be the new gold standard for idiocy.

See, shapeshifter Mystique (not played by Rebecca Romijn or Jennifer Lawrence, mind you) is going to eat this burger, but it's just too much burger for a li'l lady to handle, so she turns into some scruffy bro because only men can fully enjoy the taste of fast food bacon. Seriously. That is what this ad is about.

More ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Character Portraits and Still Images Than You Ever Wanted to See

X-Men Days of Future Past Images

It seems another X-Men movie is about to come out or something? Apparently the latest one, the seventeenth in the series, is based on the Chris Claremont/John Byrne "Days of Future Past" storyline from 1980, and combines the different casts and conflicting timelines of the first three X-Men films and that of sort-of-prequel X-Men: First Class. This is extremely impressive, for not only has 20th Century Fox and director Bryan Singer translated to film the stories and characters of the enduringly popular Marvel comic books, but a version of their enduringly f***ed up continuity as well.

X-Men Days of Future Past Sunspot
Empire

X-fans got their first look at several images of characters from the upcoming X-Men Days of Future Past movie today, in the form of a series of covers -- 25 in total -- from Empire Magazine's January 30 issue.

Some of the covers offer new looks at characters we've seen before, such as James McAvoy's Professor X, Michael Fassbender's Magneto, Peter Dinklage's Bolivar Trask, Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique, and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. Others, however, are the first fans are seeing of particular characters, such as Evan Peters' woefully begoggled Quicksilver and Fan Bingbing as Blink. There are also looks at new actors playing roles that have been in previous films, such as Toad and William Stryker.

Check out a huge selection of the covers, which also offer another good look at the Sentinels, after the jump!
