Stan Lee, Naruto and Sword Art Online Join the Funko Ranks
The world of Funko just got a little bit more animated thanks to the new additions coming to the anime portion of the Pop line. No longer will you have to worry about trying to hunt down import figures for the likes of Sword Art Online, Fairy Tail, Soul Eater or Naruto, as you'll be able to pick up vinyl figures based on those starting right now. Yeah, you heard me (read me?). Not only did Funko announce these new figures, but they're actually available today. Perfect time for stocking stuffers. Interestingly enough, this is the first time many of these properties are making the leap to the Pop format. Given how long Pops have been around and how absolutely bonkers fans of these anime shows are, it's hard to believe Funko is only just getting around the releasing these. It bodes well for the future of anime at Funko, too.

Marceline Tells Her Tale in 'Adventure Time SpOooktacular'
For years, the character of Marceline has been one of the coolest characters in both the Adventure Time TV show and the Boom Studio comics. A rocker vampire queen, Marceline started off as a don’t-give-a-crud antagonist in the show, but quickly became a friend to the Adventure Time heroes. Marceline also has a on-again, off-again “friendship” with Princess Bubblegum --- the queer subtext is strong with this one, even if it has to remain implicit in the TV show. Hanna K, a storyboard artist on the animated series, is both writing and illustrating the Halloween-themed Adventure Time 2015 SpOooktacular, on sale this coming Wednesday 28 October, and she's taking the opportunity to look a little deeper into Marceline’s mysterious past. Check out an exclusive preview!

Cake is a cat on a mission in these preview pages for Adventure Time with Fionna and Cake: Card Wars #4. Don't mistake that aggressive showering and aggressive cereal eating for signs that she's not a morning cat; Cake has a Card Wars Championship to win. If you've ever been in any kind of tournament, you may recognize Cake's mix of grim determination and heart-wrenching anxiety.

MondoCon Reveals New Batman, Adventure Time Statues and More
This past weekend, you may have been lucky enough to find yourself in Austin, TX to attend the second annual MondoCon. If you weren't (like me), you apparently missed out on a whole mess of cool announcements (like me). In addition to the requisite vinyl and print teases for upcoming releases, Mondo also hinted at the future of its collectibles line. We already knew licenses like He-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Madballs would be on hand, but Mondo's creative director of toys and collectibles Brett Otterbacher had a few surprises for those in attendance, too. According to a recap in the Austin Chronicle, Mondo will be crafting statues based on two different DC Comics prints that have already been released. First, a cast version of Francesco Francavilla's "Red Rain" print will be coming soon. Like the Godzilla statue based on the work of Phantom City Creative, the Batman-as-Dracula piece will be stylized as a 3D recreation of Francavilla's scrawny, bony, fang-bearing art. There will also be a Harley Quinn statue based on the 2014 SDCC-exclusive print from Matt Taylor (above). How this Harley will be translated to a statue remains to be seen, as this piece is just as much about her room as it is her. It will be interesting to see which elements make the leap to physical form when the statue begins development.

Since it’s debut on Cartoon Network in 2010 (or as a six minute pilot on the Nicktoons network in 2007, if you want to get really “um, actually” about it), Adventure Time with Finn and Jake has shown us just how much fun a human boy and his talking, shapeshifting dog can have. The show's mix of Dungeons & Dragons style fantasy escapades, bizarre surrealism, and low-key, dialogue-driven comedy made it an immediate hit with viewers of all ages. It goes without saying that the show's inseparable best friends go on adventures (at a specific time that has been set aside for it, if the title is to be believed), but the show has proven to be about so much more than just adventure.

Although cosplay has been present for decades within the comics, anime, and sci-fi/fantasy fandoms, social media has played an integral role in the thriving communities of costuming that exist, such as Cosplay.com and the Superhero Costuming Forum. Over the years, the cosplay community has evolved into a creative outlet for many fans to establish and showcase some impressive feats of homemade disguise, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics at conventions. In honor of the caped crusaders of the convention scene, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), an ongoing collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we’ve discovered and assembled into a super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.

Artist Genevieve FT has worked in animation and video games, but also has a love of comics. She's drawn Garfield comics as well as covers for Adventure Time, Bravest Warriors, and Archie Comics.
